The latest major update for Street Fighter 6 has just been released, and it comes with a nostalgic surprise: four fully playable NES-era games. Alongside the addition of a new DLC character, the patch also introduces widespread balance changes to ensure no fighter dominates unfairly.
Four NES Games Join the Game Center
Capcom has added four retro titles to the Game Center within the Gallery section. All of them were originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and are now completely playable inside Street Fighter 6. The games include:
- Bionic Commando
- Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight
- Mighty Final Fight
- Mega Man 3
A Quick Look at the New Retro Additions
At first glance, Street Fighter 2010 might seem like the most fitting choice for the collection — but despite the name, it has little in common with the main series. It’s actually a sci-fi action platformer where players control a bionic version of Ken, now a cybernetics expert fighting in a futuristic world.
Mighty Final Fight is a chibi-style remake of the original arcade Final Fight, featuring cartoon-like graphics and smaller, cuter versions of the classic brawlers.
Mega Man 3 is a beloved entry in the Blue Bomber‘s franchise. It marks the first appearance of Rush, Mega Man’s robotic dog who helps him reach hard-to-access areas, and also introduces the character Proto Man for the first time.
Bionic Commando, though sharing its name with Capcom’s arcade title, offers a completely different adventure. Players take control of Ladd Spencer, a soldier who uses a mechanical arm to swing across platforms and defeat enemies.
New Fighter and a Legendary Music Return
The latest DLC character for Year 2 of Street Fighter 6 is Elena, who will be available starting Thursday — the same day the Nintendo Switch 2 launches. The Switch 2 version of the game will include all fighters from both Year 1 and Year 2, including Elena.
Additionally, the update features a new music track by the legendary composer Yoko Shimomura, who famously composed the Street Fighter II soundtrack. Her new piece, titled “Edge of Triumph”, marks her first contribution to the series in over 30 years.
