The release date for Pokémon Legends Z-A has been officially announced. According to a recent post on the official Pokémon account on X (formerly Twitter), the game will launch on October 16 (24 Mehr in the Persian calendar).
Both Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions of the game will be released on the same day. Digital pre-orders for both versions will begin on June 4 via the Nintendo eShop. Players who purchase the Switch version—whether digitally or physically—will have the option to upgrade to the Switch 2 version by purchasing an upgrade pack.
Nintendo confirmed that the Switch 2 version of Pokémon Legends Z-A will feature enhanced frame rates and higher resolution graphics for a clearer and smoother experience. The Pokémon Company also revealed the game’s cover art, which shows the main characters and their partner Pokémon battling a Mega-Evolved Pokémon in Lumiose City.
More details about the game and other Pokémon-related products will be shared during the Pokémon Presents event scheduled for July 21.
What Is Pokémon Legends Z-A About?
Pokémon Legends Z-A takes players back to the Kalos region, specifically to Lumiose City. In this new adventure, players will meet a new companion—Urbain or Taunie—depending on the character they choose at the start of the game.
A gameplay trailer released earlier this year showcased a new battle system that’s different from previous Pokémon games. While battles are still between Pokémon trainers, Pokémon Legends Z-A introduces a real-time battle system, allowing players to control multiple Pokémon simultaneously instead of the traditional turn-based format.
New Ranked Battle System: Z-A Royale
The game will also feature a ranking system known as Z-A Royale, where players begin at Rank Z and work their way up to Rank A. This new competitive structure aims to add more depth and progression to the game’s battle mechanics.
