During the 2025 Summer Game Fest, Yacht Club Games officially unveiled their upcoming action-adventure title, Mina the Hollower—a thrilling, 8-bit-style gothic experience reminiscent of classic Game Boy Color titles fused with modern design sensibilities.

According to the announcement, Mina the Hollower will launch on October 31, 2025, just in time for Halloween, across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. A limited-time demo is now available for PC players to try out ahead of the full release.

A Dark Adventure in a Cursed Land

In Mina the Hollower, players assume the role of Mina, a renowned Hollower who embarks on a desperate mission to lift a terrifying curse plaguing a haunted island. The game promises intense action, exploration, and dungeon-crawling mechanics wrapped in crisp pixel-art visuals and a Gothic horror atmosphere.

Combat is fast-paced and challenging, with Mina wielding a signature whip alongside an arsenal of secondary weapons to battle grotesque monsters and face off against tough bosses. The gameplay also includes burrowing mechanics—allowing Mina to tunnel underground to evade or surprise enemies, adding a unique twist to traversal and combat.

     Classic Visuals, Modern Craftsmanship

Yacht Club Games, the acclaimed developers behind Shovel Knight, bring their signature polish and retro-inspired charm to Mina the Hollower. The game features:

    • Exquisite pixel art inspired by Game Boy aesthetics

    • Tight, responsive controls designed for precision combat

    • A hauntingly beautiful chiptune soundtrack

    • Memorable NPCs and a mysterious world filled with lore

The developers aim to blend the feel of games like Castlevania, Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and Bloodborne into a fresh yet nostalgic experience.

     Demo Available Now

For those eager to dive in early, a limited-time PC demo is already available on Steam. This early look lets players test the mechanics, explore a portion of the cursed island, and get a taste of the game’s atmospheric storytelling and satisfying gameplay loop.

     Final Thoughts

Mina the Hollower looks like a must-play for fans of retro-style action games, gothic horror, and challenging 2D adventures. With its Halloween release date, it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting indie titles of the year.

Whether you loved Shovel Knight or are just looking for a dark, pixel-perfect journey into the unknown—keep an eye on this one.
