CI Games has announced a major milestone for its action RPG Lords of the Fallen, revealing that the game has now been played by over 5.5 million players globally.

The announcement was made via the studio’s official social media channels, where the developers thanked fans for their loyalty, feedback, and passion, and promised significant updates in the near future.

“The city of Mournstead burns brighter than ever with over 5.5 million Lampbearers across the globe. Your unwavering support and enthusiasm have shaped Lords of the Fallen into what it is today — and an exciting new chapter lies ahead.”

    Post-Launch Growth and Updates

Originally released in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Lords of the Fallen has received multiple updates since launch, aimed at expanding content and refining gameplay by addressing bugs and improving performance.

One of the most notable updates arrived in April 2024, known as the 2.0 update, which CI Games has described as the transformation of the game into its Definitive Edition.

New Co-op Features in Version 2.0

The 2.0 update introduced several highly requested features for co-op gameplay, including:

    • Shared campaign progress for both players in co-op

    • Revive mechanics allowing teammates to bring each other back after being downed

    • Full loot access for both players

    • Improved matchmaking, supporting both random and friend-based party systems

These features significantly enhanced the cooperative experience, making multiplayer campaigns more rewarding and cohesive for both players.

    CI Games Plans Continued Support

Back in January 2024, Tom O’Connor, Senior VP of Development at CI Games, confirmed that the studio plans to continue supporting Lords of the Fallen with meaningful content updates and quality-of-life improvements. He noted that listening to player feedback would play a central role in shaping the game’s evolution — and would also help boost sales over time.

    Sequel Confirmed for 2026

Looking ahead, fans of Lords of the Fallen have even more to be excited about: a full sequel is officially in development and is currently scheduled for release in 2026.

Lords of the Fallen continues to grow its audience and evolve through post-launch support. With millions of players already exploring the dark world of Mournstead and a sequel on the horizon, the franchise is well on its way to becoming a mainstay in the action-RPG genre.
