During the Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, game studios Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor officially unveiled the first trailer for their new game titled Star Wars: Zero Company. This is a single-player, turn-based tactical title set in the final days of the Clone Wars era.
A New Story in the Star Wars Universe
The story focuses on Hawkes, a former Republic officer, and a unique squad called Zero Company. This unconventional team is made up of elite mercenaries who are drawn into a dangerous mission to stop a new and mysterious threat.
While the squad is highly skilled, internal conflicts and tensions exist, and Hawkes must learn to lead them effectively through these challenges. The game’s narrative is completely original, but it may feature subtle connections to other Star Wars stories and characters, adding depth and excitement for longtime fans.
A Glimpse of Alpha Gameplay
At the end of the trailer, we’re given a brief look at the alpha gameplay, which clearly takes inspiration from the XCOM series. Characters take cover behind objects and make strategic moves in turns, which is a signature mechanic in tactical games.
Some of the abilities showcased in the trailer include:
- Scanning the environment to detect hidden enemies
- Using the Force to throw enemies backward
- Sniping from a distance
- Throwing grenades from elevated positions
In one humorous moment, a clone trooper misses a shot in a very clumsy way, a fun little nod to the famously bad aim of many Star Wars characters—especially stormtroopers.

More information about the game is expected to be shared in an upcoming developer panel.
