According to a new report from VGC, SEGA and Atlus are gearing up to officially unveil a remake of the beloved JRPG Persona 4. As first reported by MP1ST, the remake is expected to be revealed at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase 2025, which will air on June 7, 2025, at 8:30 PM Iran time. The event will be immediately followed by a special direct presentation for The Outer Worlds 2.
Persona 4 Remake Likely Coming to Multiple Platforms
The source cited by MP1ST claims that the Persona 4 remake is currently in development for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. However, it remains unclear whether a version is also planned for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2.
Rumors Intensify as Voice Actors Confirm Absence
Speculation surrounding a Persona 4 remake has grown rapidly in recent weeks. Two of the original voice actors from the classic game have confirmed that they will not be returning for a new project — further fueling rumors that a full remake is in the works with recast roles and updated performances.
From PS2 Classic to Modern Rebirth
Originally released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2, Persona 4 quickly became one of the most iconic titles in the series. A digital version was later made available for PlayStation 3 in 2014, though no localized release was ever developed due to Atlus shifting its focus to Persona 5.
In 2012, the enhanced version Persona 4: Golden launched on PlayStation Vita, adding new characters and story content. This version was later ported to PC, and in 2023, it made its way to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
Following the Persona 3 Reload Playbook
Atlus has already shown interest in revitalizing older entries with modern remakes. Earlier in 2024, they released Persona 3 Reload — a fully reimagined version of the classic entry — following its announcement during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. With that precedent, a similar reveal for Persona 4 at this year’s event seems not only likely but strategically sound.
Xbox Showcase Promises First-Party and Third-Party Surprises
Microsoft has promised that this year’s Xbox Games Showcase will highlight first-party exclusives as well as brand-new third-party projects from partner studios around the globe. The second half of the event will focus on The Outer Worlds 2, including a gameplay reveal and developer interviews for the highly anticipated sequel.
A Long-Awaited Return to Inaba
If the Persona 4 remake is indeed unveiled during the showcase, it will no doubt be one of the biggest announcements of the week — especially for longtime fans who have waited years for a return to Inaba in full HD, modernized visuals, and improved systems.
