As the second half of 2025 approaches, it seems that EA Sports is gearing up to reveal its next lineup of sports titles. However, before any official word from the publisher, a new report from GamingBolt has seemingly leaked the release date for Madden NFL 26.

According to the report, Madden NFL 26 is expected to launch on August 14, 2025, aligning with the kickoff of the NFL preseason. Additionally, a Deluxe Edition will be available, offering players three days of early access.

    Trial Access Through EA Play

Players who subscribe to EA Play will get a chance to try the game early as well. A 10-hour trial of Madden NFL 26 will be available starting August 11, 2025.

This release timeline is consistent with previous Madden titles. For example, Madden NFL 25 launched in August of the previous year, featuring Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers as the cover athlete.

Will Madden NFL 26 Be Coming to Nintendo Switch 2?

Another key detail involves potential support for the Nintendo Switch 2. Earlier this year, Electronic Arts confirmed that both EA Sports FC and Madden NFL are planned for the next-generation Nintendo console.

In a statement released earlier this month, EA said the Switch 2 versions of these games will include all the features supported by the hardware. This marks a significant shift in EA’s approach. Historically, Nintendo consoles—particularly the original Switch—received scaled-down versions of EA Sports titles, often lacking features found on other platforms.

    A Unified Experience Across Platforms

EA emphasized its new direction, stating:

“We’ll share more details on the Madden NFL and FC experience for Switch 2 soon, but our goal is always to deliver a seamless experience across all platforms, to the extent the hardware allows.”

That said, the company has not provided clear answers about features such as cross-platform play. EA only mentioned that the Switch 2 versions of these games are being designed specifically for the console.

    Official Reveal Expected This Week

EA is expected to officially unveil Madden NFL 26 later this week, at which point we may get confirmation on whether a Switch 2 version is indeed in development. If confirmed, the game will join the ranks of other major platforms, launching on:

    • PlayStation 5

    • Xbox Series X | Series S

    • PC

    • Possibly Nintendo Switch 2
